Programme Overview: MSc Environmental Governance (MEG)

The MEG programme at the University of Freiburg is an interdisciplinary Master’s degree that explores the intersection of environmental science, policy, and governance. Eligible Nationalities

This scholarship is open to applicants from developing countries.

Eligibility Criteria

The scholarship is open to young professionals from developing countries (DAC-listed) who meet all of the following criteria:

  1. Bachelor’s degree completed within the last 6 years (before October 2025)
  2. At least 2 years of relevant professional experience post-graduation (volunteering/internships not accepted)
  3. A strong academic record (top third of class)
  4. Must have not resided in Germany for more than 15 months prior to the application
  5. Must demonstrate genuine need for a second Master’s (if already holding one)
  6. Must meet MEG programme admission criteria and DAAD requirements

Note: Academic research or teaching roles are not generally considered valid work experience for this scholarship, except in exceptional cases.
