The University of Queensland offers a flagship Master's program called the Master of Advanced Economics, which provides advanced and high-level training in formal techniques of economic analysis and econometrics. This program is suitable for students who have obtained excellent results in their previous bachelor's honours degree or postgraduate degree in economics or a related field.
The Master of Advanced Economics is designed to develop advanced technical skills in economics and is comparable to the first year of a PhD program in the United States. It can be utilized either as a standalone credential for advanced economics training for private and public sector professional economists or as a pathway to a PhD program.
The program is composed of 16/24 units, and applications are accepted twice a year, with deadlines on 30 April and 30 September. However, the program only starts in February of each year. The selection committee will review completed applications in a competitive process and only those with complete documentation will be evaluated.
